Maritzburg United returned to their home ground to face Orlando Pirates just five days after losing a “home” League Cup semifinal to the Buccaneers in Durban. Despite the change of venue the visitors from Soweto won again. Final score: Maritzburg United 1, Orlando Pirates 2. Check out the video for goals and the Harry Gwala stadium vibe. A good micro-video, and am also wondering about the vuvuzela, but again, how does one conceptualize a football match in S A without vuvuzela? It is hard to eliminate vuvuzela, particularly after the SA World Cup 2010, and am really shocked that South African football governing body would capitulate to the banning of vuvuzela, in Kenya, AFC Leopards have always played Isukuti during their matches, and even though the dance is not similar to vuvuzela, it is equally bacchanal, and no one can dare stop it.

The proposed vuvuzela ban in South Africa has almost disappeared from media and popular discourse. Until the next “crisis” — real or manufactured.
